Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain and Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County Officially Complete Merger

Unified Organization Now Serves 8 Counties Through 20 Club Locations

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain (BGCCP) is proud to announce that its merger with Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County is now official, marking a significant milestone in the continued growth and impact of the organization across eastern North Carolina.

With this transition complete, BGCCP now serves young people ages 6–18 in 20 Club locations across eight counties, expanding its reach and strengthening its ability to deliver high-quality youth development programs throughout the region.

This merger follows a year of intentional partnership through a management agreement designed to align operations, strengthen infrastructure, and ensure a seamless transition for staff, families, and Club members. During that time, teams worked diligently to integrate systems, align programming standards, build operational consistency, and deepen community relationships — all with one shared goal: to create even greater opportunities for young people in Wayne County and beyond.

“This milestone represents months of thoughtful planning, collaboration, and hard work from both organizations,” said Mark Holtzman, Chief Executive Officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain. “From the beginning of our management agreement, our focus has been on strengthening operations, supporting staff, and ensuring that every young person walking through our doors receives the highest quality Club experience possible. By officially coming together as one organization, we are better positioned to expand impact, increase sustainability, and continue building great futures for kids and teens across our region.”

The merger ensures that Wayne County Clubs benefit from the broader regional resources, shared services, development infrastructure, and program support that BGCCP provides across its footprint. At the same time, the unique community relationships and legacy of Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County remain an essential part of the organization’s identity.

Maggie Lattin, formerly the CEO of BGCWC and now the Area Director for Wayne County Clubs, shared her optimism about the future of the unified organization:

“I believe that when people or groups work together, bigger and better things can and will happen. That is how I see this merger. We have two great organizations coming together, and doing so will help make both better for the community, the staff, and most importantly – the kids!”

The official merger formalizes what has already been taking shape through the management agreement: a shared commitment to safe, supportive environments where young people can learn, grow, and thrive beyond the school day.

As one unified organization, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain will continue to focus on academic success, character and leadership development, health and wellness, and workforce readiness — ensuring that more young people across eastern North Carolina have access to mentorship, opportunity, and a place where they belong.
