Families interested in learning more are invited to attend a Family Meet & Greet and Q&A session on Tuesday, March 31 at 6:00 p.m. at Bearfield Elementary School, where staff will share program details and answer questions.

“This expansion represents an important step forward for young people and families in Hertford County,” said Mark Holtzman, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain. “For more than 50 years, our Clubs have provided safe places where youth can learn, grow, and build confidence beyond the school day. We are proud to partner with local leaders and the Roanoke Chowan Foundation to bring these opportunities to Ahoskie. This new Club will help ensure that more young people have access to the mentorship, academic support, and life-changing experiences they need to build great futures.”

“Hertford County Public Schools is proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Plain to expand opportunities for our students and families,” said Dr. Jesse J. Pratt, Superintendent of Hertford County Public Schools. “This partnership reflects our continued commitment to providing safe, supportive, and enriching environments where students can learn, grow, and thrive beyond the school day. We are grateful for the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Plain and their shared vision of empowering young people to reach their full potential. Partnerships like this help us live out our mission of excellence while preparing our students for bright futures.”

“The Roanoke Chowan Foundation is very excited and pleased to provide grant funding for the startup of the Boys and Girls Club of the Coastal Plain in Hertford County Schools,” said Dr. Mike Alston, Chair of the Roanoke Chowan Foundation, and Cecelia Jones, Chair of the Mission Committee. “Our board discussions over the past year regarding organizations to collaborate with to continue our mission of promoting the health and wellness of the citizens of our area led us to the Boys and Girls Club of the Coastal Plain. They have a proven model of excellence and experience in providing programs that the children of our area need and deserve. We look forward to what lies ahead as a start date nears this summer. The Roanoke Chowan Foundation has provided more than $19 million since its inception over 25 years ago to many worthy organizations to address the health and wellness needs in the Roanoke Chowan area. We are excited to have the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain join this legacy.”

BGCCP’s summer camp program will provide structured, engaging activities focused on academic enrichment, physical activity, creative expression, and social development in a safe, supervised environment. Programs are designed to help youth stay active, continue learning, and build confidence during the summer months while supporting working families.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain currently serves young people ages 6–18 through 21 Clubs across nine counties: Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Greene, Hertford, Lenoir, Martin, Pitt, and Wayne.
