CAREER OF THE DAY:

Jazion, from the Grady-White Boats/E.R. Lewis Family Unit, wants to be a professional football player when he grows up.

Most football players begin playing football in middle or high school, and some even begin as early as elementary school. After high school they go on to play in college. Then after college they are either drafted or signed in Free Agency by an NFL or an XFL team.

Their contracts can be worth up to millions of dollars per year.

CHALLENGE OF THE DAY:

This week at the Dr. Ledyard E. Ross Unit, Ms. Eliana and Ms. Oriana are diving into what their group is thankful for!

Members were thankful for their parents, the Boys & Girls Clubs, God, their friends, and so much more! One thing they were all thankful for seemed to boil down to just being alive and healthy.

So they decided to express their thankfulness of being able to have food every day by crafting Indian corn!

Here is how they did it:

  • Cut bubble wrap into big ovals
  • Poke holes in the top of each oval with a hold punch
  • Paint multiple layers with different colored paints to allow the colors to show through
  • Then paint a top layer of brown
  • Once it is all dry, tie the corn together with raffia
