CAREER OF THE DAY:

Wildland Firefighters

Wildland Firefighter can work at the local, state, or federal level, and are called on to put out forest and wildfires. In order to become a wildland firefighter you must go through tough physical training to make sure you’re fit enough for the job. The average salary is about $50,000 per year, while the top salary is over $100,000 per year.

CHALLENGE OF THE DAY:

Ms. Eliana and Ms. Oriana at the Dr. Ledyard E. Ross Unit have been working with their group for the last month on everything environmental! This week for Cinco de Mayo, they made maracas out of recycled plastic bottles. This is a fun easy project! Here is how you make your own:

Get small plastic water bottles, colorful duct tape, something small to fill the bottle (they used beans), toilet paper roll, and washi tape. All you have to do is fill the bottle with the beans, decorate the bottle with washi tape, duct tape the toilet paper roll to the top of the water bottle, then wrap the toilet paper roll with the duct tape to make it colorful.

Enjoy!
