Medical Assistants speak with patients at the doctor’s office about why they’re visiting, their medical history and anything the doctors need to know. They also perform basic physical tests, take blood pressure, weigh the patient, and take their temperature before the doctor comes in. To be a medical assistant you can either take classes for up to 12 months to get a certificate, or go to school for two years to get an associate’s degree. Then you complete hands on trainings and take tests to be certified. The average salary is $31,508 per year.
