PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT:

The Arts is an introduction to arts experiences in visual,
performing, digital and applied arts. The activities provide youth engaging,
hands-on opportunities to explore art forms and create expressive products
or performances.

DAILY CHALLENGE:

On December 26th – January 1st many African Americans celebrate Kwanzaa. Some of the known traditions include song and dance, African drum playing, storytelling, poetry reading and eating a large feast.

For this week’s challenge you will be creating an African drum.

Supplies:

  • Empty tin cans of any size (think: coffee cans, soup cans)
  • Rubber Bands
  • Balloons
  • Construction paper/Markers/Glue (optional for decoration)
