July 20th is National Lollipop Day!
George Smith, owner of Bradley Smith Company, claims he invented and patented the idea of putting candy on a stick in 1931. Some say George named the Lollipop after his favorite racehorse “Lolly Pop”. History tells us ancient peoples across the world ate honey off of sticks, the earliest precursor to the lollipop. Lollipop is also referred to as a sucker, a sticky pop, or a lolly. How can you celebrate National Lollipop Day? Eat Lollipops!
