Ready or not; school is on the way!  

Everyone loves options … but sometimes the decision process can be a bit too much! 

This week we discuss whether or not you all feel it is safe to return to school this fall. 

Today we are highlighting Carteret County’s “Road to Reopening” model.

Carteret County Board of Education members voted to implement Plan B as presented with a review of additional square footage data of classrooms as soon as it is available. 

All students, pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, will be assigned a cohort (A or B) which will attend school in-person two days each week and learn remotely three days each week, on an alternating basis.

A 100% virtual option will also be available for any family that chooses it for their student. 

Families with children in multiple schools will be on the same cohort. (ie. elementary student on cohort A, middle and/or high school student will also be on cohort A)

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

The Robert Charles riots started on July 24, 1900 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The riots were sparked after African-American laborer Robert Charles fatally shot a white police officer during an altercation and escaped arrest. A large manhunt for him ensued, and a white mob started rioting, attacking blacks throughout the city.

Today is National Drive Thru Day! Not only is this convenient and takes multitasking to a whole new level, but in today’s pandemic it is the safest way to eat out. Did you know the world’s first drive thru is believed to have been at Red’s Giant Hamburg on Route 66 in Springfield, Missouri in 1947. Celebrate today by going to your favorite drive thru establishment and grabbing a bite to eat, and hashtag #NationalDriveThruDay.
