On this day in 1958, the U.S. Congress passes legislation establishing the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), a civilian agency responsible for coordinating America’s activities in space. NASA has since sponsored space expeditions, both human and mechanical, that have yielded vital information about the solar system and universe.
What the Health? At the end of this activity, you will be able to identify positive and negative influences on your health.
All you will need for this activity is a piece of paper and something to write with.
Write your name at the top of the paper. Then draw three circles (large enough to write inside of) under your name, and label the first circle MIND, the second circle BODY, and the third circle SOUL.
Within the MIND circle, list things that make you feel healthy when it comes to nutrition I.e. making smoothies.
Within the BODY circle, list things that make you feel healthy when it comes to physical activity I.e. walking my dog
Within the SOUL circle, list things that make you feel healthy when it comes to social and emotional health I.e. helping with chores in the house or journaling.
Find blank space on your paper (outside of the circles) and write external influences that inspire and encourage you to be healthy and those that encourage or influence you to be not-so-healthy. Examples could be peers, parents, social media, your community, friends, etc.
Now, draw lines from the healthy choices you are making to those external influences and names of people who inspire you. What did you learn about external influences on your choices? What value did this activity provide for you?
