ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

June 15, 1996

Ella Fitzgerald died at the age of 79.

Ella Jane Fitzgerald was an American jazz singer, sometimes referred to as the First Lady of Song, Queen of Jazz, and Lady Ella. She was noted for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing, timing, intonation, and a “horn-like” improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing.

Check out Ella as she sings and performs “One note Samba” in 1969

IT'S A CELEBRATION:

Today are celebrating with Music – Just like we do in our Lyricism 101 Program!

Check out a few tracks from the incredibly talented Ryan Lucas – music producer from Washington DC! Alumnus of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro; go Spartans! Ryan creates music to shed light on the pleasure & pain that comes with life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness. It is his hope that these thoughts and musings encourage this listener to seek only the best that life has to offer & recognize the power within themselves to be the change the world is looking for.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT:

National Photography Program

This week’s program is the National Photography Program; this week we will learn how to take pictures beyond the typical selfie. With this program you learn how to use flash, angles, and different camera modes to communicate through the art of photography. Studying photography is not only a method of self-expression, but it is also a way to critically view the world around you and to share your perspective of it with others.

Each day there will be a different photo challenge! These simple photo challenges will allow you to describe yourself using only pictures. If possible, take some time to get out of the house each day to capture the world around you from your point of view. Experiment with your flash, angles, and camera modes to capture the best photo possible. Your favorite BGCCP Club Leaders will be posting their own photos this week on the website to give you all examples.

Post your photos on Instagram each day using #BGCCPPhotoChallenge

DAILY CHALLENGE:

Mr. Germann

It’s Monday and Mr. Germann is making sure that we are not gaining the Quarantine 15! Make sure you have lots of space to stretch out on the floor; and see if you can hold this plank for at least 60 seconds! Be safe and don’t push yourself too hard … but hang in there!
