On this day in history, in 1971, the Walt Disney World Resort Opened! It originally opened with just the Magic Kingdom theme park center around the Cinderella castle. The plan to open the resort had been in the works since 1959! Walt Disney did not want anyone to know what he was up to so he bought 27,400 acres of land through dummy, or fake, corporations.
There’s a lot that can be done to make life easier for older people. A few of the Jack Minges Unit members celebrated National Elders Day by writing kind words and drawing nice pictures for the Elders at a local nursing home. Find organizations in your area that work with the elderly and see what you can do to help.

As today is also National Hair Day…Today’s career choice is a Barber. In North Carolina, to become a registered Barber, one must complete over 1500 hours of training at a board certified school, complete a 12-month apprenticeship under a licensed barber, and pass the state board examination. On average, a barber can make a yearly salary of up to $48,000 but this can vary. Like most careers, the location a barber works in can make a world of difference based on supply and demand and of course skill level.
