Mike Colombo is serving in his third three-year term on the Board of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain, having been President in 2001. In his spare time, he practices law with the firm of Colombo, Kitchin, Dunn, Ball & Porter, LLP, which he co-founded with Walt Kitchin in 1983. His practice areas include estate, business and tax planning and transactions. He has served as President of the North Carolina Bar Association (2005–06) and in the American Bar Association House of Delegates (2007-11). Before his legal career, he was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force (1970–75) and a civilian nuclear engineer for the U. S. Navy (1970 and 1975-76). Locally, he has served in leadership roles with Saint James United Methodist Church (Board Chair 2010–14), Pitt Greenville Chamber of Commerce (Board Chair 1997), Pitt-Greenville Airport Authority (Board Chair 1994–95) Pitt County Chapter of the American Red Cross (Board Chair 1986-88), ECVC Foundation (1998 – present), and Pitt Community College (Board of Trustees 1997–2004), among others.
